Back in my day, a troll was an ugly old man who sought the company of much younger men. Now that I am an ugly old man...I'm wondering what the young men would call me.

Okay now I feel really old and out of it. What's DILF?!

Troll is an internet/chatroom/forum term for someone who posts abuse. The one's that post here certainly behave in a homophobic manner.

What would young'uns call you? Daddy or, perhaps, even DILF ;)

EDIT: for my avatar twin Wide Awake :) - I quite fancy the life of a troglodyte and I'm not alone. I recall that an ad for a cave-dwelling hermit, in The Times, got national TV News attention (in the UK); when more than 2000 urbanites applied for the position!

When did "troll" become synonymous with homophobe?

Can't say when that started although the word troll has always meant to scrounge, capture, hunt ie: trolling for fish. One could surmise it was simply picked up because that's what most "trolls" on YA! do. They hunt to provoke.

"Back in my day, a troll was an ugly old man who sought the company of much younger men. Now that I am an ugly old man...I'm wondering what the young men would call me."

I would suspect they would call you what I get called, daddy, master or my personal favourite, Sir. LOL

Behrmark, even if troll still means ugly old man, I would never call you that. You are not ugly in the slightest. I agree with the suggestion of Lois who said Bear Sweety. But then again, I'm not a youngster either. Wait, I just saw uncle frunk! I like DILF!

BTW every time I type your name and use spell check it wants to change it to birthmark. Is there any way to add a term to the spell check dictionary?

Online troll is a term denoting someone that just likes to cause trouble and get attention, like a 2 y/o acting out in a grocery store for attention. It just so happens a lot of trolls are in this area of the Y! community because they're able to get away with it.

I would say that you are well preserved. The younger generation should look as good as we do at our age. You are not an ugly old man either.

Can you suggest a better word (other than drooling idiot), and perhaps we can use that?

I think "troglodyte" would work just as well, though harder to spell, and then "troll" could revert back to its original hateful meaning.

Edit - I would assume that "DILF" is a wrinkle on "MILF," or "Mom I'd to 'fornicate' ." Substitute "Daddy."

I dont think you're an ugly old man. So what if your vintage? If you were wine or couture or an auto you'd be a classic.
