That sounds bad. You could have a short in the wires. Or perhaps exposed wires that are getting exposed to something like water. I would call an electrician, because bad wiring can and do lead to house fires. Better safe than sorry.

Its not Paranormal activity. Hey people go back to your own planet.
This is caused by a loose connection somewhere in your system all seems fine until you switch a few things on and you get the volt drop across the bad connection and the lights will come on dim or flicker as you describe.
You first of all need an electrician to check your installation connections.
Once done this may solve the problem. If not then the problem may be on the supply side and then you will have to call your electricity supply provider to sort it out.

This sounds like the typical Poltergeist. Call a Priest.
Also, it could be a wiring problem, loose or Breaker going bad.Check around too for something that may be coming on when this happen. Example may be your A/C or Clothes Dryer. If, there a problem they may cause a load when first started causing the surge/flicker.

Sounds like you have a wiring short or frayed wiring somewhere in the house. Either that or you are overloading the electrical system. Meaning your wiring may not be able to handle that much current and/or you need bigger more powerful breakers.
I'd recommend getting an electrician. Only a skilled electrician should work on problems like that.

Call the electric company. I had the same problem and after having 2 electricans come out to the house I discovered that the problem was not in the house at all but in the line coming in. The electric company fixed it at no charge since the problem was on the other side of the meter and I haven't had any problem since.

If each and every little thing became into purely positive and you probably did not something and it began flickering on it rather is very own. Then it ought to be aluminum wiring. Aluminum cord became into broadly used interior the 70's. Aluminum cord will corrode if related to copper. I even have seen junction packing containers that appeared torched from this. verify your panel it rather is uncomplicated to perceive. won't be the subject inspite of the undeniable fact that it rather is on the record of issues to learn. no count if this is aluminum cord, then you would desire to apply suited connectors. it rather is is a considerable fireplace danger. the subject does not be interior the panel it may be interior the j packing containers the place they probable related it to copper. yet you ought to confirm in the experience that your place has aluminum cord by using pulling the panel off to learn. They stop using aluminum cord consequently.

if it is happening throughout the whole house you have either bad connections in the service [ panel, meter, weatherhead], problems with the incoming power, or what is called a floating common. the common wires in your house have to be connected to both the service common and the ground system. bad connections there will cause problems with both high and low voltage. some things will barely work while other stuff may blow out from over voltage. get it checked out ASAP.

dodgy wiring?
It is more likely a dip in power, as the network often takes random big hits, that power companies need a few seconds to adapt to, then everything is back to normal. they have predictable power dips, like the adverts during 'coronation street' which they are ready for.
If you have modern electrics(last 15years), then it is NOT shorting out, or going to earth, touching water or any of the other silly comments, this would trip your RCB, MCB, or RCBOs and your power would be off!!! You could have a loose wire, but it aint going to move unless something is moving it, ie when you touch a loose switch etc..
