Well, Virginia is a midsize state with a lot of colonial and Civil War history under its belt. Four of the first five presidents were from Virginia, including Washington and Jefferson. The state varies dramatically - northern VA borders Washington DC, and is developed and modern, whereas parts of the south and western virginia are rural and much less sophisticated. It is socially conservative, especially in the southern regions. Some nice stretches of ocean, the Chesapeake bay and potomac river make it great for water sports. Give it a try.

I am a Virginia native and I love it here. We have four distinct seasons, even near the ocean. We have all sorts of things to do and see and it's not too far to New York City, Baltimore, Washington DC and Philadelphia. I think that many areas look like rural Europe, especially Germany's Bavaria.

Lived in Southwest Va at one time. It is slow moving, relaxing, and beautiful. Northern Va is bustling, noisy but you are able to make a good living there.
The beauty of the mountains are worth living there for awhile. I would suspect like Norway but warmer most of the time.

Depends on what part of Virgina. I have been to virginia beach. I loved it. It was the cleanest vacation spot I have been to. A little costly. I stayed in a hotel on the beach, and when I woke in the morning, to look out to the ocean, I could see dolphins jumping out of the water. I would so go!

In Virginia they speak English and, therefore, spell refrigerator without a 'D'.

But, it's an easy mistake to make.
