I want scientific answers on what physically happens to our bodies when we die. And is there really such a thing called a 'soul' that lives within our physical bodies? Please explain this to me as best in scientific terms. What happens to that soul? Thanks.

I would like actual answers, and not smart replies please. I am more looking for what physically happens, such as what the individual is experiencing, what their body physically goes through, feels, etc.

do some research on neurology and neurophysiology. a lot of the sounds, sights, visions, smells and so forth of people who have near death experiences are really a result of what happens when the nerves stop conducting impulses as quickly or efficiently as they're supposed to. so, the physical experiences would depend on what is causing death, and how it affects the CNS. as to the soul, that's a tough one, assuming there IS a soul. i don't believe that that is scientifically unanswerable, only that it is beyond our abilities in science at this point in time. many ponder this concept of the soul as our response to self-awareness (do we consider animals to be soul-less because they lack self-awareness or are we just "better" than them). others look at it in terms of energy. man, i don't know. it sure is the $64,000 question though. i'd bet stephen hawking would have some interesting thoughts on the soul...

Since our soul is the physical part and not the spiritual part, it is laid to rest with our bodies. Some people believe that the soul is actually the brain since the brain controls what we do and therefore is what will ultimately be judged. The spirit, however, goes back to God who gave it.

And to Shannon19.. "You can't explain the soul in terms of science. The soul is a spiritual thing so can only be explained in those terms."

--- That is incorrect; I do believe you may want to study it biblically before you claim that. The Soul is the physical part of our "eternal body" and the Spirit is the spiritual part of our "eternal body." So yes, the soul can be explained scientifically since it is physical.

Read the Bible, that will answer one part of your question. As for the other , put a steak outside for a few days and you will see what happens to the human body when it dies..
