Chances are - the baby will be up at least every 3-4 hours for at least a month! I put my baby in the bassinet in our bedroom up until the time they were sleeping for longer periods of time. I never cut the noise level back in my home to help them sleep. If the alarm wakes the baby you can deal with it then. Try to keep things as 'normal' as possible. Treat the baby's arrival as an addition to your family and not a change to your family.

If you really like sleeping with your wife you put the crib in a different room and use baby monitors. Other than that, you may want to sleep in a different room when you have work. I think the alarm would wake up the baby if it were in the same room with him/her.

usually newborns dont wake up with alarm clock noise - and you may even find if you time the feeds right, the baby will be up anyway or due to wake up.
most new mums prefer to have the baby in with them for the first few days / weeks
you could always give it a go and if it wakes the baby up - get a quieter alarm clock (We use my mobile and turn the volume down)
not sure she'd be too impressed if you slept in a different room

Most people keep their baby in their bedroom for the first few months. There is no need to sleep in another room. Remember to never tip toe around a baby though...if they get used to quiet, they will start to wake up at every little noise. Get baby used to noise at day 1.

It will definatly be easier for your wife if you have the baby in your guys room with both of you. As for the alarm clock waking baby up, if you don't keep your house really quiet when baby is sleeping, chances are it won't even faze the little one. If it does, she can always nurse baby to get him/her back to sleep with her. I use the alarm and my daughter usually sleeps right through it. (I'm quick to turn it off though)

we are putting the crib in our room regardless of early wake up times, because we have no other place to put him when he is newborn. After awhile he will be sharing a room with his big sister. I don;t think you need to sleep in another room unless your alarm wakes the baby up or your wife asks you to. Try it out and see how it works for your family, and then decide what is best.

You need to discuss these questions with your wife. Find out what she would like. With the number of times she will be getting up to feed the baby, they may wake you up more.
When our 1st child was born she slept in the same room, only because my husband was working the midnight shift and this was better for me as I had a c-section and was still a bit sore.
When our 2nd was born, he went into his room and I use the baby monitor. My husband now gets up at 4.30am and if the baby was in our room we would keep him awake more often and he'll get alot less sleep.
So discuss the sleeping arrangements with your wife.

I would keep the baby is the same room
NO your wife would not feel OK if you slept in another room! You too need too keep a connection which each other, eapecially during this time. We had an alarm and our baby never stirred. I also felt better knowing the baby was near and I could hear everything she was doing.

To be honest, when my daughter was first born, her and I slept in a different room than her father, she woke up every two hours or so and I didn't think that it was fair to him to have to wake up constantly when he had to go to work in the morning. After a couple of weeks, me and my daughter moved back into the bedroom and she slept in her bassinet next to the bed and it worked out just fine. I don't think your wife will be offended if you chose to sleep in the other room and it's okay for the baby to be in a separate bedroom, usually it's the moms that need the baby to be by them for the first month or so, it's like we feel like we can protect them better if they're closer to us.

you can sleep in the room! Just get up a little earlier then usual so if you do by chance wake the baby you can rock it back to sleep for your wife. Me and my hubby always kept the baby in with us and I always slept through the alarm from just normal sleep deprovation.
