It’s a disgrace. The writers and editorial staff at Marvel have shown themselves to be truly villains here. They have shown that they are not truly on the side of the heroes, not on the side of America.
Yes, it is a shock, and a shame. What are they going to do now? Replace him with the Red Skull…?
What makes Captain America who he is? Not his super soldier serum, not his strength, not even his outfit and shield (as they learned, back in the 80’s when they replaced him with Super Patriot.) But what makes him the symbol of our nation is his moral character, his idealism and nobility. Cap is good, kind, forgiving, generous. He is the living embodiment of what America is, and now they want to throw that all away and replace him with someone else?
It is such a stupid move. Marvel will learn, to their regret, that their market share will not protect them if America falls as they keep encouraging our nation’s enemies more and more. We have to stand up and say, we are not going to let foolish legislators trade away our liberties and allow our icons to be slain.
Where has their conscience gone…? Maybe Stan Lee would laugh at that. He’s just in business to make money. But he will have to answer someday, for the many young people he has led astray by this, and for the way he has helped and strengthened our nation’s enemies.

Of course he'll be back, they aren't scrapping their creative property. They'll probably try to have someone else be Captain America for awhile and it'll suck, then Steve will pop back up, his death faked as a SHIELD cover-up. A sad continuation of the poorly conceived Civil War storyline.
It's amazing anybody actually cares when a superhero dies. I'm pretty sure all of the X-Men have been killed at least once, most a few times. And of course Superman died, and Spider-man was a clone for awhile, but it all reset itself with time.
I just don't see how the people at Marvel could think that replacing Steve Rogers will give them more success with the character. I mean he's just not Captain America if he isn't the Captain America that punched Hitler in the face. The guy needs to have the personality of somebody who wakes up every morning already upset that we aren't taking freedom seriously enough. Changing that will meet with failure. And at the least some Captain America has to come back to appear in all the promotional artwork they've already released for summer books.

I am not surprised but I am very upset for two reasons. The first of these is that a symbel that is needed in many ways more now than ever before in his history has been killed. Secondly Cap is an icon and if he was to die it should have been in a fight for the things that Ameica once stood for and will stand for again.

they killed steve rogers not captain america.
I think the point of that is to show the changing face of america.
I think clues to the new captain america were in the civil war.
I think it will be frank castle. He picked up his mask at the end, the whole new vs. old face of america and the american.
They are showing that rogers' and his view of america is outdated as the country has changed. the last frontline illustrated how out of touch with america, modern america that steve rogers really is.
I think they are replacing him for this reason.
I hope they make castle the new captain america.

The only reason i can say i'm surprised is because he didn't die at the very end of Civil War, but rather was shot afterwards. And I can't say I'm too upset, either, because as much as I love Cap, it's a fitting end to the current story line.

YES I AM. They are crazy to try to kill of an icon, an American Icon and symbol of freedom, especially in these days and times! Thr radical left, and enemies of America rejoice at this stuff. "See, they kill their own heroes!"
SHAME ON MARVEL!!!!

I hope they don't just use this to start @ number 1 again. I wonder do they really gain readers w/this trick. I stopped reading Black Panther when they stopped and started his book.
