7 men gang raped her. Her punishment under Islamic law? 90 lashes by the government. How do you muslims defend this barbaric religion and practice?

Nabil, being alone witha man that is not your husband could be from any situation. The men could have kidnaped her and then raped her. It is always the womans fault. There was another story about 10 policemen raping a woman. The woman got the death penalty.

All one has to do is look at honor killings to get an idea of what Islam is all about when it comes to women.

Can anyone name any other religion or culture that honor kills it's women or beats them for being the victim of a sexual crime?

All the Abrahamic religions, including Christianity, have violent tendecies. It is just that with the long development of the Western tradition and philosophy, christians have come to be a little more accepting of people and rights (I say a little because christians still do ugly things to each other and other peoples everyday, also no matter how you feel about capital punishment you must agree that it is a form of controlled violence). Some would point to the crusades, the multiple blessings of crusader wars, warrior popes, support for capital punishment, corporal punishment under the guise of 'spare the rod and spoil the child,' justifications of slavery, world-wide colonialism in the name of conversion to Christianity, the systemic violence of women subjected to men (Weaver), as evidence of violent tendecies that have been found in Christianity, but I think the western philosophy and some very secular ideals have taught westerners how to at least attempt to coexist with each other in a "civilized manner." As the west became more "civilized" so did the christians within it, the current state of things didn't start with the death of Christ, it was a slow process that it still ongoing. I'm christian, but I'm also American, so some of the ideals that I carry around with me in my heart come from growing up in this culture, not from what comes from the Bible. I was an African-American Arabic linguist in the Army and on my trips to certain parts of the muslim middle east I realized that some people could look on America as a backwards country when it came to race relations. They believe all white Americans are all members of the KKK and couldn't believe that I was associating with a white person. Does this make a mostly Christian Europe and USA bad? I can't answer that, but the West's ugly past with racism has nothing to do with the christianity, it has more to do with the racism that was very prevelant in the cultures, not in the religion.

P.S. even other Arabs occasionally look down on Saudis as backwards, lazy, racist, and perverted. Although honor killings aren't just occuring in the Arabian Peninsula region of the Middle East.

approximately 50% of those in penitentiary, in Saudi Arabia are in penitentiary for 'ethical' crimes inclusive of reporting a rape, exhibiting ankles, or saying something that the government does not like. In Suadi Arabia you like witnesses to charge rape. in case you have no witnesses, and open up on the subject of the rape, than you have admitted the crime of intercourse exterior of or formerly marriage. In Saudi Arabia this is seen a criminal offense.

I am waiting for a reply from a Muslim. I expect it will be 'it is the culture's law and not Islam'. Of course, Saudi Arabia is run according to sharia law and this is a religious punishment mandated by Islam. And yes, it is barbaric and yet another demonstration of the truth of Islam.

They HATE women, their wives, mothers and daughters,and their sisters !! Cant you already SEE the truth !!! It is no different than american men abusing women, or men from any other countries, other THAN the governments in THOSE other countries AGREE to the barbaric abuses and murders. she got off lucky, a 14 year old girl was hung in iran after being gang raped by cops. they hung her from crimes against chasity. the cops didn't get even a slap on the wrist.

iran also started up public stoning again. the rules are you are allowed to live if you can get out of the pit they bury you in. men are buried up to their hips and woman are buried up to their breasts. sound unfair to you? islam is not a peaceful religion.

Contrary to what people want to admit, Islam is not a peaceful religion. Yes, people can abuse any religion, but the actual philosophies of Islam have nothing to do with morality, but the will of Allah.
