You need to create a folder that is shared:

- My computer
- Select the drive
- create the folder
- right click and choose properties
- click on Sharing/select Share this Folder
- Give it a name

I'd recommend setting a password - just for a bit of security

To connect to the folder,:

- Go back to MY COMPUTER
- select My Network Places
- select Add a network place
- follow the wizard.

Now you'll have a shared spot to drop files rather than sharing your entire hard drive

on both comps open "my network" places and run "set up a home or small office network" use the SSID from your router as your network name. Once the wizard has run make sure you select share files and printer. After you have finished on both you jusy need to go to the folder you wish top share documents from on both pcs i.e. i share "my documents" and right click the folder, got to properties and hit the share tab, do the same process with your printer on your main pc to share it. In your "my network places" the shared folders will be viewable here and there is an option to view workgroup computer on the left hand panel too. They files will be secure if you have security setup on your router.
