the last doctor (GP) told me that sometimes when we breast feeds, this kind of thing tend to happen - hormone... but problem is i've stopped breastfeeding 6-7 months ago...so anybody have a tip? or same experience to share on how you dealt with this problem? or any advice...am i sick?

You definitely need to make an apt. & see your doc.
They need to do some blood work & check-out your hormone level to make sure nothing bad is going on.

Unfortunately, I don't have my fertility book with me, but she mentions pregnancy and periods about all that. If you are interested, the book is Taking Charge of Your Fertility, by Toni Weschler MPH and it is like 16 bucks on amazon or you can get it online. Essentially, she is a lot more knowledgeable than most doctors and nurses about female stuff, and so I would read it on my way to the doctor (probably a good person to discuss this with).

Normally, if you aren't having your period, that means you aren't ovulating (releasing an egg). Not releasing an egg can happen for several reasons including stress (could a baby cause that?!? YES!!), weight loss, weight gain (estrogren is produced in the fat tissue and so can affect ovulation), illness, traveling, all sorts of things! Even medications can affect your cycle. I would definitely read part of that book, Taking Charge, because I've had doctors tell me total b***sh** about my reproductive health. GOOD LUCK!

Since you are not on birth control and not breast feeding any more etc it is time to get this checked out. You didn't mention if you have had you annual pap smear since giving birth but if you haven't had one yet then schedule this too when you see the doc to get the missing periods checked out.

Have your bloodwork checked. If it shows elevated prolactin levels, then your period will not come. Prolactin is the hormone produced by the pituitary that produces milk. This happens in both men and women...
