It's not easy, but when I came out I had to just say it. "Mom, I'm gay." The problem after that was she didn't completely believe me. She kept saying, "Are you sure you're gay?" for like a year after that. Good luck. Email me if you need any moral support.

You've got a couple options. It all depends on how open and honest you want to be with your folks. If you want to be really close, then sit them down and do the whole coming out thing. Build up your confidence first and be prepared to be kicked out. If you kinda want some relationship with them, avoid talking about your love life when you can and if you're cornered say something that outs yourself. If you don't care if they know anything about you and want to get by without a fight, then lie and avoid telling them the truth until you're not dependent upon them.

i think it is different for everyone though i believe in person is best. for me, i just told them that i needed to talk and i came out and said it. i think it is better not to beat around the bush. i dont know your parents but remember, parents arent as dumb as u think ;) they might already have some idea. it's gonna be hard but you will be amazed at how much better you will feel after. my parents are very open and liberal but it took time for even them to absorb and understand it. let them know that you are willing to talk about it and that you want them to ask you questions (im assuming you are/do). time is your best ally. do what it takes to help them understand (PFLAG is a great organization).
congratulations on being at this point in your life! remember that you are NOT alone in all this even tho it may feel you are. many people have done the same and have felt the same feelings you are. good luck!
ps please ignore the religious ******* that im sure will post on here saying you are a sinner and wrong

Depends on your age and how dependent you are on your family. If you are a minor and living with them, I would advise saying nothing till you are more financially secure. The best time to come out as gay is when you have a reason to, otherwise people are going to be doubting you and trying to convince you that your wrong.

Well, my parents asked me and that's how they found out. So, I dunno... if I had to do it a different way, I would probably sit them down and say " mom, dad, I am gay". And hope for the best. Either that, or if you have a big mouthed sibling you can tell them, and at some point your parents would end up knowing, trust me.

You can do one of two things. One, wait till after college then tell them or just tell them straight. I know people sometimes believe that just blurting something out like that will only make it worse and trust me the initial shock will be substantial but in the end, it may just work out right.

I don't think you have to say anything, unless they're trying to set you up with some chick. If the subject of dating or who you find attractive comes up, then just be straight... Opps! I mean, honest. Some parents know and just don't want to burden their children. Letting someone find out on his or her own is healthier, plus, what if you're wrong?!

before I came out, i began to show alot of interest in GLBT flicks, while making sure for my parents to watch them (even only for a second) to get a true reaction. Then, when I knew things were going right, I told my mom first (since typically women react less harshly) in which she accepted me, then her and myself told my dad.
