My dad wants us to go there instead of Disney. Is Dollywood fun for an 11 year old boy and 15 year old girl? We (my brother and I) are thrillseekers. I think Dollywood is for little kids. I know Disney is sort of too, but we both love Disney. I grew up around Disney and would go back every year if I could (I use to when I was younger). But, Dollywood just doesn't seem like something we would like. My dad wants to go there for spring break instead of Disney. Everybody but him wants to go to Disney.

Would do you think?

Disney is boring.

Dollywood has significantly expanded in the past years. They have created a decent sized water park which is expanding this year. Not to mention they feature the #1 wooden roller coaster in the world (voted by Amusement Today), Thunderhead. They also feature a Arrow Dynamics manufactured custom looping coaster, Tennessee Tornado, as well as the new for 2007, beyond 90 degree drop coaster, Mystery Mine. They also feature the nation's only Topple Tower from HUSS Manufacturing. Dollywood also features the #1 non-coaster ride, Mountian Sidewinder (I think thats the name) as well as tons of other water rides.

For thrills and a good time for the whole family Dollywood is the place to go over Disney. But Cedar Point (Sandusky Ohio) is the thrill rider capital of the world.

Yes, there would be things to do that you would probably like at Dollywood, there are only 2 major coasters, but they are a lot of fun. I went in December, so the park revolved around Christmas, most likely it is different now. I haven't been to Disney in a long time, so I can't help you there.

I would go to Dollywood because for one the atmosphere is amazing, two it has 3 great coasters, and a new one that looks very unique!, there are some great water rides like Daredevil Falls(one of the tallest water rides in America), and there are some great shows and food at the park. I would recommend it. I am wanting to visit again this summer.

If you're lucky maybe you will even see Dolly Parton herself!! I think she definitely beats out Mickey Mouse! lol

I've been to Dollywood. There are a few coasters whic are great for thrill seakers but after you ride the coasters like twice each you're left with not much else to do. There's like shows and things but I don't think that that would be something a 15 & 11 year old will enjoy. Dollywood to me seems more appropriate for older not younger people because of the crafts and the old time Mountain feel.

Honestly since your Dad doesn't want to go to Disney and you guys like Disney but you like thrills I would suggest that you try to persuade him to take you to Universal Studios. It's in Orlando so if you really want Disney you still can go there too.

www.universalstudios.com
then click on the parks...universal has great rides and shows and I think this would be appropriate for the whole family
If you do go to Universal make sure to get a park hopper so you can go to both Universal & Islands of Adventure....also mention to your dad that if you buy tickets online to the park they are cheaper....(I did this myself and saved like $30/person for both parks

Hope this helps!

One year my dad also wanted to "drag" us to Dollywood. I thought it was going to be aweful but it wasn't. It was actually fun and there are a lot of other things to do in the area. If your looking for thrill rides, Disney(one of my favs) is a little tame. There is a great rollercoaster park in ohio though.

I haven't been to Dollywood in 20 years, but then I remember it being really heavy on water rides. I was 13 and my brother was11, and it was okay but not great. Most other parks I've been to were better than that, but I'm sure it's changed in the last 20 years.
