Don't focus on writing the story, just write. I'm a singer/songwriter, so I know the difficulty's of writing. My suggestion, make the conversation something that no one would be expecting, philosophy for instance, make both animals seems like there road scholars. But don't play into the cat is smarter then the dog crap, that's old and outdated. Pretend the cat and dog are actual individuals, what are their back story's, trials, tragedies, how can I connect with them? Make the animals symbolic of something.

Just a suggestion...instead of a PLEASE help message, let us know what you need help on. That would help us to know what questions we can answer or not answer and in return, you may get better answers.

As far as a conversation between a cat and a dog, look for an idea where the cats and dogs are going to the same school. Think Hogwarts here in terms of different houses, one for cats and one for dogs. Is this a confrontational situation, or possible a beginning of a budding romance (it could make a great symbolism for people of different races who fall in love).

Cat.."Hello Mr doggie my name is Mr. Cat, do you now where I can catch some fish"

Dog..."Hi Mr. Cat, I do not know where you could catch some fish. But I can show you this awesome garbage can"

Cat.." Really, WHERE IS IT!!! " the cat yelled.

Dog..." It is not far from here, would you like to go? "

Cat..." Sure, Lets roll " The cat said with a smile.

So the dog and cat walked about 5 miles down this dirt road..

Cat.." Wow this road sure is dirty "

Dog..."Dirty, this is not dirty. If you want to see dirty I'll show you dirty" The dog said this with a weird grin...

The cat thought the dog was making a crude comment about the word dirty, but unsure so they keep walking.

Dog.." We are almost there, are you excited"

Cat..."Sure am, I've been looking for some fish for a long time"

Dog..." Great, I am glad I could help you find some fish"

Cat..." What if there is no fish there " Said with a sad face.

Dog..."don't worry about that, I'm sure there is fish there" The dog said with a confussed face.

Dog..." Mr Cat can I ask you a question?"

Cat..." Sure"

Dog..." What is a Fish "

Cat.." WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT FISH IS!!!!!!!!" the cat yelled

Dog..." Well I heard you say you wanted fish, so I thought the magic trash can would have it " The dog said with a big smile.

The cat was really angry and bolted off and never saw the dog again....

THE END

Picture the dog and cat in a situation that they might actually have. Being at home alone when the owners are at work, what would they say/do. Would the cat get on the dogs nerves or vice versa. Something fun and funny.

How about writing about the cat and dog are talking about their owners? Either they're not getting their food or whatever and if that doesn't help then take some ideas from the Garfield comic strip.

Think of a funny conversation you've had with a friend recently. This time replace yourself with the dog, and your friend with the cat. Add some comical lines, and maybe an argument and definately add more lines that you think you could've said to your friend that you didn't think about at the time, but thought about it after you walked away.

The dog and cat are very fond of their owner, so they have decided to throw her a surprise party. They are thinking about who to invite, and they really want to invite the cute neighbor so maybe their owner will finally fall in love. They are discussing what to serve at the party, and especially how to trick that cute neighbor into coming over, now.... you provide the conversation.

maybe the cat and dog are usually enemies, but they find common ground in their dislike of their owner, and together they plot against him
