Would you like to start an impeachment in your town? After casting votes on budgets and other routine items, citizens of 32 towns in Vermont backed a measure calling on the U.S. Congress to file articles of impeachment against Bush for misleading the nation on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and for engaging in illegal wiretapping, among other charges.

Five Vermont towns passed similar resolutions last year.

First any attempt at impeachment will be an incredible waste of time. The primary reason for this is that there are not enough votes in the Senate to actually reach the required 2/3 majority. Second, to date no one has presented credible evidence of impeachable acts committed by the President. I am not against the idea of Congress investigating the intelligence failures which led to the war in Iraq so long as it is performed honestly and all links are examined no matter where they lead. There is a hatred for the President by some in our society which has led them to believe he is absolutely guilty while ignoring the basic fact that this intelligence and the conclusions which were drawn existed before Mr. Bush ever took office. The answer is no, I would not support an impeachment just because some people are willing to react to innuendo without basis of actual fact. Want my support for an impeachment proceeding, the route is simple, prove that a crime has been committed by showing proper evidence to support the claim.

Let's see...they want to impeach yet offer no proof of any wrongdoing?
Oh, and if you continue to read the article, they are also calling on a new investigation into 9/11 to prove that it was a US Gov't inside job/conspiracy.
That right there should send up warning flags about the legitimacy of their "accusations".
Heck, why not throw in resolutions about the Kennedy Assaination and the moon landing too? It can't hurt, right?
Take a few more hits off the bong Vermonters!
But of course can one expect anything less than nuttiness from the home of crazy man himself Howard Dean?

It shows that people from Vermont are intellectually challenged. There has been no crime committed to warrant impeachment. And that is the first requirement. I don't like Bush but no one has produced any credible evidence of criminal acts. It is all insults and innuendo. Responsible Democrats are not even considering it. Vermont just wants to get into the news as basically, they are a nothing state.

Any and all talk of impeachment is about as effective as a non-binding resolution.
It's a total waste of time and money - it's political grandstanding at its best - both the time and the money could be much better used trying to solve some of the real concerns facing this nation, like illegal immigration, the Iraq war or health care.
Typical liberal nonsense!

Vermont is a Democratic haven of course they want to impeach him. I've always wondered if all this impeachment talk is rooted in revenge for Bill Clinton. Every President since Nixon (minus Ford and Carter) has had some talk of Impeachment. Perhaps they should move on and run the country.

hurrah for Vermont citizens. Yes impeachment should be filed and granted with no possibility of parole. Bush and Cheney are serious criminals.

And these "towns" would be?

And your sources are?

I find it hard to believe that the people of Vermont are so stupid as to NOT know the procedures for impeachment.

Some proof of your claim, if you can.

Which I doubt.
