In the eyes of the public or in the eyes of the jury hearing the case?

The public only knows what they see on TV or read in the papers, so they really don't know what happened or why. Thus, in the public's eye, one is guilty until proven innocent.

However, I have found in my own experience that, as a general rule, jurors take their duty seriously and honestly try to follow the law, including innocent until proven guilty. I have had juries that told me after trials I won (some that I was surprised to win) that they thought my client was guilty, but the prosecutor did not prove them guilty.
