Adding numbers with bases?

How do I add numbers with the same base? Example: 213 base 5 plus 433 base 5?

Go back to your childhood and remember your early addition training. wherever the addition exceeds the base, subtract the base and carry a unit to the next column.

So, 213 + 433 base 5
3 + 3 = 6 ................ 1 carry 1
1 + 3 + 1 (carried) = 5 ....... 0 carry 1
2 + 4 + 1 (carried) = 7 ....... 2 carry 1
