dotnetfx.exe is a process belonging to Microsoft Windows which updates the .NET technology interface. This is a operating system core component update and should not be terminated unless suspected of causing problems.

Dotnetfx is from Microsoft. If the program your installing was developed using the .Net Framework then you will need to install .Net Framework to make sure the program will work. If your installing a program that needs this framework then it will prompt you during installation to install it.
