One option is to just do a plain, old fashioned search for *.pst files (be sure to use the Advanced option to search hidden, system and subfolders) - this will pull up everyone's Outlook file on your computer, then select the one you back-up and just copy it over to the hard drive.

you can see where the mails are stored: go to extra > option > maintenance > archive then you copy the address, next you go to start > run and past the address there you see all files containing your email (every outlook folder has its own file) you can just copy them to your external HD.
