At home I have a dual core iMac running the latest OSX. At work I have a Windows XP PC. I want to be able to control my home mac just like I can another PC using Remote Desktop. What software (preferably free) should I use?

Disclaimer -- I'm primarily a PC user (yes, we all look like that guy in the Mac ads).

You may be able to do enough using SSH. A Mac-saavy friend earns beer money performing remote support for a small group of Mac customers by connecting in via SSH and working under the hood (installing packages, getting software updates, etc). SSH is pretty secure and fairly easy to set up with a home router (forward TCP port 22 to the specific IP used by the Mac). See first link.

For SSH, you will need an SSH client on your PC (see second link).

If you really want the full GUI experience, you may wish to explore VNC. See third link for some details.

Note, this was an "exhaustive" search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mac+osx+remote+control)
