There isn't one player in the league that the Lakers could trade Kobe for that would make the team better. Kobe is the most dangerous player in the league right now and will be for the next 3-4 years. It's all about finding players to support Kobe, not moving the best player in the league.
Everyone is jumping on Wade's bandwagon which makes sense since he gets the benefit of the ref's whistle almost every possession. Dirk is another popular pick since his team is winning but look at how darn good his team is. He's got Josh Howard, Jason Terry, Stackhouse coming off the bench. Nash is the 2 time MVP but don't be fooled, his team is built perfectly for him to run and gun, put him on the Lakers and they fall out of the playoff hunt. The Lakers don't have any players like Marion, Amare that play with such quickness and power.
The only way to make the Lakers a better team is to get either Kevin Garnett this summer for Odom and Bynum or another swingman to complement Kobe. An upgrade of the role players is needed as well.

Two players, Tim Duncan & Lebron James.........
Move Lamar Odom (without injury) to PF,
Keep Bynum at Center
LBJ at SF
Maurice Evans at SG
Smush Parker at PG
Bench: Vajacic, Farmar, Luke Walton, K. Brown, Vlad
and the greatest coach in NBA history!!!
With that lineup, bench, and coach, that is basically what the Cavs front office are drooling to bring to Cleveland........there is defense, there is the needed outside shooting, and they are not softies. With Lebron leading that team, the Lakers would be in 3rd or 4th seed. With Phil Jackson's guidance, Lebron would be more unstoppable than now.
Wade? get a clue. His Heat team without shaq is <.464 record. If you put Lebron in Wade's shoes, the Heat would be in first place. Why? Well because the Heat have much better role players and Pat Riley is a much better coach than the amateur Mike Brown.
We all know if Tim Duncan was with the Lakers they'd be better than they are now. No need to argue here. Timmy would allow those stacked 3pters the Lakers have to rain 3s all day. With Kobe, he takes away 75% of their 3pters.

To make the Lakers a better team, I could ship Kobe to Boston for Wally Szczerbiak, and that's even knowing that Wally's out for the rest of the season.
To make the trade fairly even, I'm sticking with Boston, and the guy I'd take is their lone superstar, Paul Pierce. Pierce already has experience being the focal point of a team's offense, and a player of his talent should be able to learn the Triangle. The best part for Lakers fans is that Pierce checks his ego at the door while bringing nearly as much talent as Kobe does.

I dont think there is a player in the league that would be better in Phil Jacksons system then Kobe. People would say Nash but Nash in a triangle wouldnt work. Nash is better in an offense that is run and gun. Or you can go with a big man like Garnett, Duncan or Dirk but when they get doubled who is gonna hit the open shot. You couldnt switch him for one player, it would have to be a combination of players for it to benefit the lakers. It would have to be something crazy like, Howard and Nelson (orlando), or Wallace and Gordon (bulls). Brand and Mobley would be a good trade too.

In my opinion the best all around players in the NBA right now are:
1. Dirk Nowitzki
2. Steve Nash
3. Dwayne Wade
Though i don't think any of these trades would be accepted by the other teams. So for pure leadership and on court presence I'd suggest Gilbert Arenas just because hes a team player who I'm a big fan of.

I don't think any "single" player to be honest would make them much better, their not awful considering they were doing good until injuries started to bother them.
Michael your obviously either biased or blind.
Heat are actually above .500 with Wade, 25-20. you fail to realize he was out a good 8 games or so himself...and this was with an injured line up and change of coaches. ya they have role players but how much minutes are guys like walker playing now compared to last year? half the season he's been with random line ups working with some guy's that haven't even seen a minute and with almost nobody at pg. he basically had to create for himself and his teammates the whole season and managed to average about 29 ppg and 8 assists. it isn't easy when your missing 3 key players from your lineup. i think your the one who needs to get a clue.

The lakers already have a pg so i would go with tracy mcgrady because although hes not much of a passer himself, he is definately a better team player than kobe. the other lakers are not bad, its just they dont touch the ball 80 percent of the time
