I think that is pretty surprising news. I had no idea this is where the Civil War storyline was going until I saw it on CNN this morning.
I am guessing this happens in Captain America #25 which is being released today.
I think it sucks they are killing off Captain America. But if Marvel is going to do this, I hope they stick with it and not bring him back in some lame way like Marvel and DC comics always do with their characters.
This news does make me wonder what Marvel has in mind for the Punisher. If you read Civil War #7 the Punisher picks up Captain America's mask after the battle between the heros.

I hope so. I really hope so. But I have a funny feeling that Marvel has gone over to the side of America’s enemies, with this. They feel that there is no longer a place for the idealism that our nation was founded upon. They may even try to replace Captain America with a newer, more violent and less moral person. If they do this, they will be taking the steps toward influencing millions of American youth to be that way themselves.
This comes of following Tony Stark instead of Cap. Stan Lee is Jewish, has he forgotten history? Registration leads to illegalization, internment leads to enslavement. We saw both those principles played out in Civil War! It looks like Stan Lee is deliberately and actively tearing down America’s moral standing in the world, and strengthening our enemies.
If they don’t bring back the one and only real Captain America, I think Marvel will see that they have really shot themselves in the foot this time.

No, he's not dead. It was said he was alive in Avenger's the Initiative that he is alive and imprisioned on the Raft. As far as Stan Lee forgetting his history....Stan Lee hasn't written comics for quite sometime and is not the head of Marvel Comics. He had nothing to do with this.

its just a cheap stunt they always do that a lot at marvel they will probably mourn him for a while then he will reappear all of a sudden and it will turn out that he was never dead but was simply injured by the bullet,or that he planned to fake his death with the help of winter soldier or something like that, i never liked the idea but i am not surprised a lot of writers have no respect for the characters they use for their stories.

I think Nick Fury is going to steal his body from SHIELD and find a way to bring Steve Rogers back. Who will take over Cap's mantle in the meantime?

I posted the same question.
I think it's a stupid event that Marvel is doing to gain attention for their yearly summer promos.
They should be flogged for this.

He will be back. its kind of like wrestling, noone ever is really 'defeated' or killed off. its what makes the story so compelling.
