Hi, I have a Netgear dg834gt 108mbps router and 2 Wireless 54mbps adapters for my Laptop and bedroom PC. The problem is that I have a 16mbs internet which I get on my main PC connected with a LAN cable to the router, but my wireless connections are maxing out at 2.2mbs, I walked over to my router with the laptop to get that.
Is there anyway to increase the speed as the adapters should be able to get my full speed with room to spare shoudlnt they??

Just to update - the Laptop was literally right next to the antenna and still got the 2.2mb speed.
But even when I go into another room I am still getting a speed of 54mbps on the wireles connection.
Does the router limit how much broadband bandwith a Wireless access point can have?

depends on what your house is made of, your PC's could be getting interferance on the wireless. you can try boosting the output of the router with high gain antenii but i am not sure if they make any for that netgear router model.

The weaker the wireless signal, the slower it goes. That's the way they were designed. So to get the fastest speed, you need a much stronger wireless signal. Prove it by putting a wireless laptop in the same room with the WLAN router and the data rate rises dramatically. You need a better external antenna on your router.

The computer with the router trandmitter on it needs to be closer to the one receiving the signal. It's the same thing as your tv using outside antenna being too far from transmitting tower, the reception is lousy.
