Usually this saves to the Registry, even after a clear of history.
And the key is almost never the same. And there are approximately 4 places in the system that also save the items. So to totally remove the mentions, either use a third party app, or manually remove each time you search

all you do is empty the history. and when it gives you the option of deleting, lets say, the temporary internet files or the cookies (there's also a few other choices)... just hit delete all and it will delete all those saved searches...

now if you want to stop it completely, you're going to have to go to either internet options, or try the actual google website for the option to be turned off

What you want to do is look at a step-by-step article at;

http://www.goitexpert.com/entry.cfm?entry=Turn-of-AutoComplete-in-Internet-Explorer

That describes how to turn that off. Also you might want to set the History to 0. Meaning in the same section as in the article above there is a section that says "Days to keep history" put a 0 (zero) in there. That means that when you visit a website Internet Explorer will not remember the address for you.

It makes browsing safer.
