Nope, that's been fake with each other and will most likely cause resentment and not closeness. Good friendships are make by accepting each other for who you already are.

Stretching the envelope, I have never heard of that. :P

I think how much a friend means to you determines just how much you can "stretch" that envelope. Close friends you would do anything for (almost) as opposed to acquaintances. You have to be able to determine just how much of a friend the person is before you can decide if you should or shouldn't put yourself out there for that person.

I have answered alot of questions I hope I made sense here. :P If not feel free to ask me to explain myself.

Great question really, good luck and have a great day!

No. None of that should be lost. If your way of thinking is not a JUST one, then it would help to change. BUt if you know you are a FAIR person, then no.
Deep down inside we all know if we are true and fair to the people we love and care about - and we also know if there are things we need to change to become a better person. Change those things you know you have to change to become better, but dont change the rest...... 'Cause then, the real you will be gone.

You can be best of friends without sacrificing your individuality. In fact, true friendship recognises each other's strengths, weaknesses and special characteristics. That is also the test of true friendship.

Well we should always ultimately be ourselves. Compromising here and there is one thing... tipping the scale dramatically is another, you will know when you are totally not being yourself and I think maybe that's what is getting to you now, don't lose yourself entirely and remember a good friend will always allow you to agree to disagree.

There is no reason why one's individuality has to be lost in order to sustain a frendship. Frendship is all about recognising and supporting the true "u". If that is done, then there is no need.
