119 - (-54) = 119 + 54 = 173 degrees F.

Range is simply the difference between the two extremes (the high and low temps, in this case). That would be 119 - (-54) = 173 degrees.
Since you are SUBTRACTING a NEGATIVE number you actually end up ADDING 54 to 119, so be careful with your signs. You are subracting NEGATIVE 54 degrees as oppossed to just subtracting 54 degrees.
Anyway, the answer is that your historical range is 173 degrees.
