If it is a Step down, i.e. from 230 volts to 110/120, then the safest source is APC.
This is something I learned the hard way. Very few Companies have step downs that work safely. APC has products that work, and they have warranties as well.

You can buy voltage adapters in the US, but most are very poor quality, will not handle long-term use, and do not adequately shield sensitive equipment. Be sure to check volts/amps on equipment you are wanting to use and buy transformer that is adequate to handle the full load. If you are planning to be in India for any length of time, you may want to seriously consider buy dual voltage equipment and/or new equipment that takes the higher voltage. (Lived in Italy for 2 years, and it is really a hassle running everything on transformers.)

Since your computer has a voltage selector on it, some equipment may be able to be run via USB connections on your computer, rather than straight off the power grid.

you can find 1 at Radio Shack or find a servicemember and ask them if they happen to have a transformer, they usually have 1 in their home from previous oversea stioning or deployment. By the way it is a step-up transformer not a step-down.
