No, normally my air conditioning bill is like half of what my heating bill is.

Per Heat Unit Provided or Removed. Yes.

1 When heating, the source is also providing heat.
2 When cooling, the source also has to have its own heat removed
3 Air conditioning involves the use of a condenser to remove the humidity resulting in more work per Heat Unit
4 There is no choice of energy, Gas or Oil is out. No competition.
5 With heating the purchased fuel is the prime mover. With air conditioning the Liquid/Gas is the prime mover after conversion.

In Alaska, the heat costs more. In Florida, the AC costs more. :)

a/c turns motors, but still very costly in the south... very few day you can open windows near Houston, Texas
