I think it depends more on the situation than foster care. For example, a teacher should know that a student has had a disruption occur in their lives that lead to their being placed in foster care. As a teacher, it makes it easier to teach students when I know their backgrounds. I can tell when to push them to work harder and when to just back off and leave them alone. Knowing what's going on in a student's life can make a difference in what you do and anticipating how they will respond.

The more teachers know about their students the easier it is for them to teach them. In this case pupils can get upset if teacher says "Letters will be sent to parents" for example.
It may also, if a recent occurrance can explain changes in pupils behaviour and attitude to work. It's not a cop out for students to misbehave but just helps to understand behaviour and deal with it.

yes because it will directly affect the interactions between the parent and the teacher...it will also allow the teacher to know that the student is dealing with a difficult situation in their lives and need to be supported...

yes, but no....they must know who is the guardian so that they don't get into legal trouble if they send the kid home with someone "not on the list". also it could help the teacher understand that the child may have emotional difficulties because he is going home to home. It is also confidential information...if the teacher knows he can not tell anyone else not authorized

i have taught...i would prefer to know...helps explain certain situations...i would never hold it against a child...but would be more comfortable knowing in case of a situation...foster homes are not always the best environment and can cause problems at home as well as in the classroom

yes, it is important that the school is informed of details such as this, it allows them to understand that there are issues happening at home that may impinge on that child's learning for a while or affect their behaviour, the school counsellor may also become involved to help with any issues that arise
