What you are saying is true and this is why our criminals will continue to commit crimes. We have the highest criminal rate in the world because of how "civil" we are to criminals. I have yet to see what punishment they are learning as a result of their actions. The truth is that this country is so messed up and the morals are shot all to h e l l. Only GOD will be able to punish those who truely need it. Thank you and may GOD bless.

Everyone should have the same rights at the beginning. You take away some rights selectively from criminals - like the right to walk around on the streets, the right to see your family whenever you feel like it. That's prison. The story you mention seems to be another example of political correctness seducing the weak minded. Serial burglars have the right to shut up and be taken away in a van.

I have rated the answers given so far but would like to add that Crimewatch is continually 'facing' people and a good thing too. Not only does it give the criminal an opportunity to present at a Police Station but ensures the innocent public are able to assist the Law Enforcement agency here in UK.
It is high time that criminals are DEPRIVED of their human rights for DENYING the human rights of their victims.

The problem is that the more things we criminalize the more criminals we're going to get. We should de-criminalize (NOT LEGALIZE) or lessen certain, non violent, "self crimes" (drug possesion, use, prostitution). Crimes that effect the rights of others, or violent crimes, need to be punished more severely. We also need to rethink the death penalty for everyone not a serial killer. once you force yourself on the rights of others, you give up those rights yourself....

Can't do the time, don't do the crime - the scum should have no rights & when they are locked up, there should be no TV or radio, no pool tables, no availability of luxuries (though providing them with drugs they want could help to sort out over crowding), shouldn't even be considering allowing them to vote.....No rights until they have served their time and paid their dues.
Sigumend - first answer guy - get used to having no rights - you were the sicko just talking about how good your mother was in bed.......freak

Definitely - the world is going human rights/PC crazy - if you commit a crime all human rights should be revoked & then let them rot somewhere - in proper prisons, not these things that are like hotels!!

God this could be a tough question and continuously gets me going! i'm doing a psychology degree and offender justice is one in each of my modules. i think of it relies upon on the crimes they commit interior the 1st place, i think of there could be diverse ranges of 'rights' for various crimes...rapists and murders and so on shouldn't get a similar 'rights' as people who, as an occasion, thieve from shops, or dont pay their taxes. thoroughly agree that they forfeit those rights whilst they openly pick, of their very own authentic, to commit the offence, so subsequently they could could cope with the outcomes. people could take duty for their very own strikes and settle for the punishment. i ought to pass on continuously approximately this!!

Yes, they do! They took those rights away from others, others who were innocent and who didn't deserve to have their rights taken away from. And like you said, they already had that choice. It's so funny, because the most likely ones to commit heinous crimes are those who've already done so. Why do we keep setting them free?
I have a crazy uncle in my family who kept on getting out on parole. And he kept on doing the same thing over and over again. You'd think the authorities would learn . . .
