The situation in Iraq has almost nothing to do with International Terrorism. It never did.

There IS an insurgency, but it's motivated by our very presence there! If we leave, there will be no more reason for an insurgency. And the insurgents will NOT come here!

More and more, what Iraq is about is a Shiite-Sunni civil war. Why is that our concern? What do we care who wins that? Why should we put ourselves in the middle of that? How does it benefit our national security to attempt to intervene in that?

We CANNOT pacify that country. Only the Iraqis can do that. And if they cannot, toough crap. They'll deserve what happens.

Why do you insist that we keep p1ssing away American lives for NOTHING?

And why don't YOU join the military, instead of making others do your disty work for you? You and the Bush twins. AND Mary Cheney!

Bush has cleverly synonymized the words "insurgency" and "terrorist." In fact, the two words are remarkably dissimilar.

An insurgency is a group of people who band together and fight against a common oppressing force.

Terrorists are people who attack at random based on hate and prejudice.

But by calling the insurgents in Iraq "terrorists" simply because they are people who oppose the "mission" we've supposedly carved out, Bush has managed to garner even more support for his ridiculous, personal war. The war in Iraq has NOTHING to do with us, with our freedom, with terrorism or with any lofty goal other than making sure that Saddam Hussein, who once put out a contract on George H. W. Bush, died. Now that that's done, trust me, Bush couldn't care less what happens in Iraq. But he knows that pulling out would make him unpopular with his gun-toting, beer-swilling, wife-beating, trailer-inhabiting electorate. (Because, let's face it, rational Republicans don't support him any more, it's just the morons who only get three channels on their TV.)

I agree with you, though. This is not our business and we are now only making it worse than it needs to be.

You cannot seriously be so programmed by the liberal media that you think the US is causing the problems in Iraq? They have been fighting since long before we got there.

Why is it okay for celebrities to want to talk about ending the humanitarian crisis is Africa but not okay for us to help the humanitarian crisis in the middle east? It's the same thing.... there is a very rich supply of a very expensive resource (in Africa it's oil and diamonds and in Iraq it's oil) that a very few people control. And the people who don't control it are abused and murdered. It's our job as a fellow human being to care when things like this are happening.

We need to help people where ever we can. I'm sure the little 6 year old girl my brother saved while in Iraq wouldn't see it as " p1ssing away American lives for NOTHING?"

There was a term coined during the Viet Nam War, it was "expendable resources" think it applies here as well The conflicts in that area have gone on since the dawn of time, The US can't solve nor should we get involved in that type of crisis It has to come from them.

No one sends soldiers into harms way without careful consideration. You can blame that on Rightist all you want. It means nothing. The leaders of this country decided to go to war against Iraq because they posed a threat to our country. All the intelligence was pointing to WMDs controlled by a mad man. Now you can use hindsight all you want. It makes you look smart, but it's not leadership. No soldier has died for nothing.

at some point in time, you just have to wonder "WTF"... These guys could have actually declared a victory long ago. We took out their evil dictator. We gave them a democratic government, we trained their military and police force. etc, etc.... But NO. We are still there and our troops are still being killed and there seems to be no end to the bitter fighting "between" Iraqis. How long does this have to go on??? This war has NOTHING to do with the War on Terror. McCain was right, the lives of our troops are being wasted.

We have a volunteer military. This war has been going on for four years now so everyone that is in Iraq signed up during a time of war. They knew what could happen before they signed up.
