I completely agree with your 5'th point. Actually, with your 2'nd point as well. I would NOT be willing to give my daughter a vaccine which has not been fully tested. Remember Thalidomide? How about the drug back in the 60's-70's to prevent miscarriage? Both proved to be more harmful than helpful down the road. I want to be able to decide this one for myself, or let my daughter decide for herself and take it OUT of the hands of the government.

Oh for gods sake, if this was a penis disease everyone would line up with their pants down around their ankles for a shot in the butt!

Cervical cancer is a big deal and the "research" you did is a joke. Go to the CDC website then go read the Univ studies where the doctors work. How many years did they work on the vaccine? How many women have already had the vaccine, the ones from the studies and pre-FDA approval? And you have the age range is incorrect, too. Your lack of information is astounding.

You really should channel your energies into reading more, and doing your homework. You are waaaay off base.

Obviously you didn't meet the criteria to get into medical school, but they do let any moron buy a computer and gain access to the Internet, don't they?

Since something like 1 in 4 women contract the virus that the HPV vaccine prevents, it makes sense that we can stop this from continuing.

On the other hand, Rick Perry (the Texas governor pushing this) is actually financially tied to Merck. Merck has been a huge lobbying force in the state of Texas since the vaccination was approved and Perry will actually personally make money off of this.

You make your own conclusions over the real reasons Texas is considering this.

They're not making anyone take a vaccination.....and wouldn't you want your daughter to be protected against 80% of the strands of HPV that cause cervical cancer....but they are probably doing it (if they really are) because drug companies have a lot of weight in the USA due to the amount of money they make and the fact that at any time they could say ok well we'ren ot making anymore vaccinations and screw everyone over

" If your daughter got cervical cancer and you had refused to have her vaccinated, what would you think then? "

You do realize that these viruses are spread through sexual contact.

Whether it is good or not is irrelevant. Why is it so beyond people's reasoning that the government shouldn't be in the business of coercing people to do things just because they are good for you?

Mrs. Z, all of your insults are appreciated, but you obviously need to do some research on the concept of liberty. First, I, and I alone, am responsible for the health of my child. Second, I don't endanger anyone else's life, because these viruses are transmitted through sexual activity. Third, there are still concerns over the safety of this vaccine.

The fact is that this is a push by a pharmaceutical company(I have no problem with "big pharma") to get the government to pay for their vaccines. Having a drug required would likely give a greater return on investment.

Your guess is as good as mine. I know there are other vaccines which children have to take prior to and during their school years, i.e. smallpox, dpt and maybe some others. However, I think this is the Department of Health and Education Department requirements. I don't know whether the compulsory HPV vaccine is a good idea or not. We (Texans and others) will just have to wait and see.

So what. The Gov stands to make a few bucks off of it, because he has so called connections with Merrick. Big deal. Thats only smart on his part.
That doesnt change the fact that the vaccine is a good thing, and if i had a daughter of that age i would make certain she got the shot.

If it were a vaccine against brain cancer no one would have a problem. I see no references for your stats, in fact I see nothing but lots of caps and exclamation points.

It is not a matter of forcing it is really in the best interests that parents do take their young daughters in for this, if it saves them from possible death it is well worth it.
