My brother who has been out of high school for a couple of years was invited to prom by his girlfriend. Do you think it would be okay to buy a really nice suit instead of a tux? He would still have the matching tie, vest, etc. It seems like such a waste to rent a tux for one use when he could buy a suit that he could wear more than once.

If he's going to prom, he should wear a tux.

Go with the suit and he'll be the most stylish person there.

I think tux's are a little too conservative myself.

If he does the suit, though, he shouldn't do the vest thing. Just stick with a really nice tie.

Plus, if he's older, he'll be able to use the suit for jobs and job interviews. It's a win-win.

I beleive it is appropriate to wear a tux to prom, especially if he no longer attends the school. As long as the tie and vest match i don't think anyone would even notice.

it would be fine because they are almost the same. and i have a feeling he wont be the only guy there with a suit instead of a tux.

If a girl wore a suit to prom at my school everyone would think she was gay. (I'm not saying it's right for them to think that, but it's just how people are.)
