How was the modern state of Israel created?

I need an answer for my history hmwk..

it all started in 1946. After the end of WWII it was felt by many country's (mostly United States) that the Jews should have a home. For this reason Israel declare them self a state. But not soon after war broke out by near by country's. Egypt, Iraq, Iran, etc. All these countries went head on with Israel alone and lost. The modern state was planned up in the late 1800s and early 1900s by Theodore Hertz he formed and was in charge of the zionist movement. The zionist movement was a movement meant to create a state of residency for the jews. He made many plans and had many discussions, he also talked about creating it in argentinia but his fellow zionists argued and said that it should be in the Holy Land which is palestine. They began going there and buying land from the palestinian residents. in the beggining there was peace but soon after they started getting into politics and after WW I Lord Belfour of Britain Signed the Belfour Decleration which gave the land of Palestine to the Zionists, There Were minor resistences in the beggining but after the Zionists made some changes and began to do things that went against the palestinians they started a revolt which happend around 1949, that is the year that Isreal Officially became a State.

well let's see... after Great Britain signed the Balfour declaration and the locals drafted/formed a government, in 1947 a war of indepence was fought... and they won.
