Why do some people think they own the road ?

These people that stay in the fast lane and go just the speed limit and refuse to get out and when you try to pass them on the right they speed up ? Why are people like this ?

Their mummy didn't love them when they were babies so they are excessively greedy now. It's okay though - nobody loves them now either.

Well, I often wonder that too and I think some are usually in the middle lane because of the "slow" lane being one in which we are to observe courtesy to those merging. If you noticed, no one is courteous anymore and merging is the most difficult feat to do while driving. Those that speed up do it just so you don't pass them because they don't want anyone in front of them, although they haven't realized that there are tons of cars in front of them. They know they are too slow and should move to that other lane, but that would mean they were "last" and no one wants to be last. Mostly, they are just inconsiderate.

For the same reason some people bust their fannies to pull out in front of you (and they could wait 'cause there's no one behind you for at LEAST 1/2 mile), you slam on your brakes to avoid hitting them, then they go 1/2 a block and turn.

Yeah, there's people out there with a death wish. Sooner or later someone's "road rage" will take 'em out one way or another. Will they learn? Nah...and the hits just keep on comin' (literally!). And insurance rates just keep on risin'.

Meanwhile keep yer cool, drive defensively, and hope their disrespect for other drivers doesn't hurt someone on down the road.
