As a publisher, I don't care where you are from or what your religion is. It has no bearing on anything I do. All I care about is one thing: can you effectively tell a good story? Unless you make it a point to promote the fact, the typical reader won't even know this information when they see your work. They are going to see a bookcover, read a blurb or review, and decide whether or not to buy.

I've published short stories by writers from around the world. Serious readers consider this a selling feature, as they have a chance to read stories from writers across the globe. Don't stress over it. Just hone your craft.

The only way that we can heal the chasm between east and west is through understanding each other as human beings. You writing books to sell all over the world is one of the keys to that understanding. Would I read your work? Absolutely.

Life is pretty sheltered here in America. Most Americans don't leave the country for more than a few weeks at a time, and one doesn't get to know the world as a tourist the same as one would as a citizen. Through your writing, I can learn more about life outside of these united states. I can learn what people really need, yearn for, dream about in other countries.

Keep writing and pushing to sell your stuff all over the world. Don't be afraid of the few who refuse to buy, but sell for the many who want to know your world.

It depends on the PLOT and how the book is marketed and NOT the religion or country of origin. I notice that you didn't tell us what kind of book it was. That should be all important to you.

When you get to the point that you tell us about the plot and convince us it's a great read before you mention what country or religion you're from, you might make it.

I would have to be honest with you. I'm a New Yorker and the memories of 9/11 are still very fresh and painful. So I probably wouldnt. Sorry.

If it was the kind of novel I liked, why not? Although I do understand your reluctance.

My first thought is not to publish under your real name, no mention of your background. That is a fairly common practice in writing anyway..

Of course I would. That is if it sounds interesting. Who cares if your muslim arab as long the writing is good. You can't let ignorant people rule what you do. Go for it, you deserve the chance to make your voice heard. Everyone one does and there shouldn't be color or race attached to that.

Salmon Rushdie is re-releasing The Satanic Verses?

Yeah sure, I'm there!

Is he doing book signings?

A person's religious beliefs has no bearing on whether I buy their book or not, if I like the sound of the plot I'd buy it!!

Of course I would, as would most English-speaking readers. (Naturally, I'd apply the same standards to your novel as I would in deciding to buy any other novel.)
