I'm a former smoker, but it is really bothering me what is going on. Smoking is still LEGAL, and yet smokers are treated like they are doing something criminal. There are things that can be done that could work for smokers and non smokers, but too many don't even want to talk about it. No compromise at all.. They don't like it, so they don't want anybody to do it. Problem with that is, until it affects one of THEIR freedoms, it is okay, and it will happen, eventually. So those who are cheering for what they see as a victory need to remember this when it is one of their freedoms that is threatened. I don't know how the motorcyclists got the mandatory helmets repealed, but it might be somewhere to look for ideas.

You are right . All the poor maligned smokers need to unite.
Where do you get the idea that it's OK to pollute my lungs with your bad habit? Just look at your record. for years now people have been complaining about your smoke and what did you do? You just kept blowing smoke in our faces anyway.
If you had a clue you would have started watching where your smoke was drifting. You would have been careful to not leave your cigarette still burning in an ashtray when you were done with it. You are not the only one to blame. The bar owners had plenty of time to install smoke eaters, but didn't.
No, I don't have any sympathy for you. You showed arrogance when you should have shown concern.
Good riddance.

smoking is a crime but only to your own body and those of us that have to suffer from your second hand smoke. i worked in a restaurant before the smoking bans pasts and i went home every day smelling like an ashtray and coughing.
i have no problems with you smoking. you can puff those cancer sticks all you want but now that these great new laws were put into place you can't blow smoke near my food or near my face. it turns out that i'm a much happier person. these new laws have lowered my chance of drying from your second hand smoke and i'm pretty happy about it.
try the patch or gum... your grandchildren will thank you.

You know, I don't mind people smoking away from other people, if you want to slowly kill yourself with lung cancer, then that's your choice, but why do you have to do it in public. I want to live for a full life time with out lung cancer. Also, it seems like a lot of fires in America are started by cigarettes that aren't fully put out. Smoking away from people and flammable objects is your choice, but other wise, you are affecting other people negatively and it shouldn't be allowed. Sorry, I know your people have suffered "persecution" (that was meant as a joke), and I don't hate smokers, I just think a lot of smokers need to respect non-smokers and smoke away from other people. Thanks for reading and God bless.
