What is up with white students at some colleges having ghetto day or ghetto parties where they imitate blacks? The guys wear grills and girls stuff their pants with pillows to get ghetto behinds and they all drink 40 ounces out of a brown paper bag. I am sick of people always stereotyping my race. I am a bright young lady in college who carries herself well. I never see any of my friends or classmates behaving in the way everyone wants to portray blacks.

Why do whites find it fun to ridicule blacks? Do you not see that we are also an intelligent race of people?

They do that because they are ignorant. They probably have nothing better else to do than to degrade another race and their culture which is wrong!!I think they might just be jealous because hip hop is huge now and the stuff that they used to listen is not anymore.Hip hop has truly inflenced our society which in a way is a good thing because it has brought all different races together to like hip hop but then it has sterotyped certain groups which i find disgusting.Im not even black, im puerto rican and i hate how they portray the african americans as being drug dealers,uneducated...ect...i have many black friends who are not even like that, they are well educated and dont live the life that "rappers" show on tv.I also hate how they degrade women as only a piece of a**.I mean come on thats just rediculous. But for other races to do that just shows their ignorance and they only believe what they see on tv.Do you honestly think they would be able to survive all the things that happen while being in the drug business.NO!!They just see that as being the glorified life which is bad. Before they judge one group they should look at their and quit trying to be like a certain other group and get educated and know that all the things they see on tv is not real at all!!!

Hey girl, we white folk don't meen you no harm. Hey, I have worked at a tubing outfitter on the river her in Texas and college students just want to have fun. College students are the most open minded of all peoples and we all just want to have a good time. I'm a older college student (33). Hey, I never listened to rap until I went back to college. Were all just highly stressed and just want to let it out one way or another. I know there is a lot of prejudice out there and I'm sorry that blacks have got the bad end of it. I really hate that and it's all the white peoples fault. Were all in this stinkin world together and we got make it through somehow. How about sharing the love my sister and just ignore all the haters. There miserable!!! Hate is miserable- don't be apart of it! I'm a white girl from Texas (born in Illinois) and my yankee momma would of slapped me clear across Texas if I would of said one bad thing about her black friends. I love you all no matter what, too.

I am a white Republican man and I have never heard of this practice. You have every right to feel offended. In my business we have many fine people of all races and to be honest, I do not see any difference in ability or intelligence.
On the other hand, I also find those rap videos offensive with how women tend to be portrayed or even outright called vile names. Anything that glorifies drugs, crime, violence or degradation of women should be condemned. Are these white students imitating what they see in these videos?
I don't like white people or black people portraying blacks in a negative way. Black peoples' ancestors paid dearly for the right of their posterity to be accepted and respected as productive and patriotic Americans. The vast majority of them truly are. They deserve to be portrayed as such.

I can understand why you would be offended...but they are doing it out of fascination w/ hiphop and ghetto culture, hiphop culture has made ghetto seem "fabulous" and white kids want to get in on the big bandwagon. I don't think it's so much about them imitating black people as a whole, it's more about them imitating ghetto/hiphop culture, just like maybe in the 60s (I'm just guessing, wasn't alive back then) some black people might have parties where they dressed up and acted like hippies, who were usually white people, as the most popular music back then was rock and the majority of singers were white, just as today the most popular music is hiphop and the majority of hiphop singers are black.

Blacks colleges should just do white parties where the guys would put on emo wigs and wear girl pants while the girls slit their wrists with razor blades and contemplate suicide

Because they are immature college students without any sense of tact. They find humor in the behavior that they see as outlandish and want to imitate it to seem "cool" and "funny" to their dullard friends.
I apologize on behalf of my race for this kind of behavior, as it is inappopriate and stupid. Honestly, it looks worse on them than it does anyone else.
Please don't think that all white people are ignorant racists... I assure you, we aren't. I like a lot of coffee in my cream ;).

Because black people (obviously not ALL of them, so no need to go ape sh*it on me) seem to find it acceptable to humiliate their own race by their own actions.
So, if they have no problem willingly making themselves look like clowns in public, why should someone else be looked down upon for dressing up like a similar clown?
*** To your additional information... no I'm not racist whatsoever. I am however, realistic.
After receiving a message asking if I thought it would be acceptable for black people to throw a "white party" making a mockery of the way white people dress, I have absolutely no qualms in repeating what I said to that person....
As I CLEARLY stated from the beginning, my reply was not aimed at ALL black people just as I said to the person who messaged me, not ALL white people are rednecks. If a person dresses in a way that clearly isn't considered respectable and within reason, then they themselves are doing nothing more than inviting someone to make a judgment upon the way they look. When I leave my house, I am always dressed in a decent manner, 95% of the time in dress slacks, dress boots, a blouse, hair groomed and a bit of makeup such as mascara and lip gloss or lip stick. The other 5% of the time you'll find me wearing a nice pair of jeans that fit me accordingly (as the person said, to my waistline? No, they're where they are supposed to go), a nice shirt or blouse and a pair of casual dress boots. I may or may not wear makeup, but if I do, again it's just mascara and lip stick or lip gloss. I'm in no way representing myself as a "redneck" or as "white trash."
Ever hear the saying that "first impressions stick...?" Well it's true. How you present yourself to the public is how you are viewed. For THOSE black people who think it's a form of normality to have their teeth capped in gold, wear their pants 5 sizes too big and around their knees, sporting some absurd bandanna claiming they "rep tha bloodz yo!" or "cripz fo lyf dawg!" are without a doubt going to be viewed as an atrocity because that is what they are. They dug their own holes with no help from anyone but their own people. So again I say, not ALL black people fall under this scenario, further reiterating the fact that I am NOT a racist but merely REALISTIC.
