You need to hire a plumer to clean your drain.

I've read the answers stating plumber and that's likely a valid thought. I'm going to assume the backup/overflow happens becuase of plumbing at a higher level than where the flood actually occurs, in some form of blockage that may be below the flood level.

I'll also assume that somewhere you have a drainout plug, often outside the house, and often it's a threaded NUT type of PVC, if that's the kind of plumbing you have, that has a "head" on it to fit an adjustable wrench. That's probably where a Plumber would begin anyway.

Beyond all that, monitoring what is flushed is critical, and without offense personal hygene items are meant to be disposed of in other ways (NO accusation). What goes down any drain should be no mare than water and waste. Even a hair pin can cause major issues. The flow/volume of the fixtures on the upper levels also plays a large part. GRAVITY is usually considerd in construction and yet I can't know if your ground level is below ground, and or if there is something in a small glitch.

In any case a Plumber would likely begin the search at that drain out plug as opposed to just plunging of snaking intially.

Well .... you don't say whether you plan on fixingthe problem yourself but ....
First thing is to stop using water and shut it off in the area it is oveflowing. You don't want any further water damage than you already have.

Obviously your main 4 or 3 inch line or pipe is clogged past the areas that are backing up. If you have drains further down the line ... kitchen ... another bathroom etc that are draining fine then , the clog is obviously in the middle.
Trouble areas may be a joint or tee in the line .... a line that isn't installed right ( with the proper pitch ).

Sometimes there is a clean out area where you can take a cap or plug of the line and then you or the plumber can run a snake thru it to clean the area.

You can normally rent some professional drain cleaning items from Home Depot and other hardware stores.

If you find the problem area and it looks like it may be a problem again, you can have a clean out section installed right before that section.

Most plumbers or drain cleaners will probably charge about $75 to clear your drain ---- if it only means running a snake ( Metal cable ) thru it to clear.

If its a persistant problem you may need to have some ofthe mentioned piping work done.

You have a major clog. You could try using a plumbers snake down the toilet to remove the clog or seeing if you have a trap somewhere on your plumbing that you can unscrew, check and possibly use to put the plumbers snake in at. If neither of those work, start calling the plumber.

How are the drains in your other bathrooms and kitchen working? If they are not draining like they should it could be that the drains to the septic lines are clogged or if you have a septic system the lines to it could be clogged or the septic system could be full.

If the problem is contained to just the half bath you probably only need plumbing work. If it is the entire house you may have a septic/sewer problem.

It sounds like you need a plumber's snake. It is a long wire that is uncoiled down into the drain. You can buy most any length that you need. They aren't very expensive ($20?) Plumbers have even bigger ones that are motorized, reach 100', and have a spinning attachment on the end that destroys clogs and cleans the insides of pipes.

Are you on the sewer line or a septic system, if septic you need to add enzymes down the drains and get the septic working again, it might be so plugged you will need to dig it up and clean it out because its not working. A septic needs bacterias and enzymes to work properly
