"After death comes judgement"
Jesus told the man on the cross, "Today you will be with me in paradise" No purgatory, no sleeping in a grave, no worms.
God bless you dear. Hard to loose a dad, I did.

Your bodily functions cease but so does the pain? I lost my dad several years ago and literally I thought the exchange of a rose from the grave flowers was really not a fair exchange. They took him. The grave would not grow grass the first year. And then you accept...
I believe that the dead can watch over us and talk to us through our dream state. After my dad died some of the most beautiful dreams were shared between my sister, brother and I. Mom and the other sister did not really dream of him as talking just a dream...
I know people go to heaven and get judged...
What a thinking question! I wish I could tell you more about what I have been through with my dad after death because he was loved...

Sorry for your loss.
I don't believe we hear or see anything (Since we no longer have eyes or ears or even brains for that matter.) The energy is released from our bodies back to the earth it originated from, and thats it. Nothing else happens. Of course there is no way to prove this, or other speculations as well.
It would be nice to believe that our deceased parents, friends, etc. are waiting in the afterlife, but that is just a fallacy we created for our fragile minds to cope with the fact that we will never see a loved one again for the rest of eternity.

You know how it feels going down a roller coaster? I think at the point of death, we experience this sensation as our consciousness and soul is seperated from our body. From there, I think it's a voyage of the senses - with indescribable sounds, lights, sensations. The soul, now detached from the body, enters the supernatural world, unlike anything comprehendable to man. I think at the end of this process - there is a transition to a peaceful state and stillness, like eternal sleep.
