If you seriously have a console log that takes up 8GB of space, I'd recommend having your computer checked out. That's ridiculously huge for a text file.

It will not harm your system to delete them, however if there is that much to say in your console log, it is worth keeping them until a tech can look at them and determine the problem. It is definitely not normal to have a console log of that size.

have you ever emptied the Recycle Bin? whilst a document is deleted, it is moved to the Recycle Bin somewhat then actual deleted to furnish you a "failsafe" could you could "undelete" the document. the area isn't actual freed till the Recycle Bin is emptied. (Or information interior deleted lower back from the bin, in case you do no longer pick to empty each little thing.) additionally try defraging the complicated force. each so often if the information you deleted have been badly fragment (scattered in aspects around the complicated force), the freed up sections would be so small that they are not freed for reuse. A defrag will pass the information around on your force so as that each and all the aspects of each document are mutually, and any tiny loose areas are all moved mutually.
