haha, this guy said 1.5 in the nba, but 2 in high school or rec league. the nba gives you more steps than any other level of play. they wont call traveling on lebron or kobe if they take 3 steps as long as they were on the move when they pick up the dribble. saying u only get 1.5 in the nba but more at other levels is the funniest thing i have ever heard. jordan used to take as many as he wanted and wouldnt ever get called for traveling. they let it slide in the nba far more than they do in college or any other level.
the answer as far as after a rebound is no. the only way you can take 2 steps is if you are on the move and then you pick up your dribble.
the "post move" that requires two steps as you claim, is moving one foot in different directions . this isnt "taking steps". as long as you dont move your pivot foot you can move the other foot around as many times as you would like, as long as you dont get a five second call.

Yes, you can. There is a "post" move that requires two steps and can be taken after a rebound.
It's the same rule as with a lay-up.
Sometimes thought, some ref. will call it as a travel so most of the time, you better take a dribble before taking those two steps.

No, you can take one and a half steps once you establish your pivot foot which would be done as soon as landing with the basketball the player can not pick up and put down the pivot foot or move it in any other way. That is traveling. Although the rule is often streched you are not allowed to take two steps without dribbling.

Once you establish a pivot foot, you CAN'T move that foot with out dribbling or shooting the ball, otherwise, it would be a travelling violation. That is the official rule.
So the answer to your question is a NO, officially.

only 1 1/2 steps in the NBA. Maybe two steps in high school or rec but in the NBA, only 1.5 steps.
