Depends on the deceased!
I want my husbands funeral to have a "party" a day after the funeral with a few close friends at the graveside. But I am not going to do it in front of his family and mine.
However, if my sis-n-law died, I wouldn't do it she was not like that.

Yo! If you arrive at my funeral sober, it'll be your own fault for not comin' to the wake. There'll be kegs of good Irish stout there and of course, you're encouraged to BYOB. If by tne end of the funeral you're too smashed to drive home, there'll be plenty of room in the barn to sleep it off. I'll have left instructions that mine is to be the wildest Irish wake in a hundred years, and you're expected to take it to the edge! If y'don't see a Leprechaun, you ain't drunk enough!

i went to a funeral that was a party rather than a "normal routine" of one.. we ate, drank, told stories on each other.. the friend that died was in his urn right on the shelf ... that was his last dying wish and insisted that his wife follow thru with it..
yeah we had tears.. not of loosing him but of going on with our lives and enjoying it like my friend did.
