go for A+ rated machines if you can - better for the environment and should cost you less to run. I would recommend Bosch as a brand (don't like Hotpoint myself) but I don't think you'll get both for £500 unless you pick them up in a sale.
Try the website below for more info (could get both for just over £500)

How about used ones. Sometimes people remodel and buy new appliances and the old ones are in good shape-just didn't fit their new decor. Take someone with you that is knowledgeable to check how they run etc. I lucked out with my dishwasher-it was less than a year old when the new home owners decided to remodel and put in stainless. Call a repair shop often old washers and dishwashers are refurbished and are now like new. Like one person said make sure they are well known models-Maytag, Whirlpool, Kennmore, Amana. Easier to get parts for those if they need to be repaired
To Lisaviduk-"Dishwasher" is a misnomer-really should be called "Dish sanitizer". A dishwasher doesn't "wash" dishes. The dish detergent is actually a chlorine blend-ie bleach. Bleach kills everything except spores-bleach almost sterilizes

sure you may get a T junction which permits you're taking a spur off of the water pipe. you will additionally want a faucet, some 15mm copper pipe and a unit which suits on the tip of the spur and the chilly water pipe on the dishwasher screws into it. So, turn the water off, decrease the pipe which facilitates you to in wonderful condition the T junction. you will ought to degree the quantity of pipe to decrease out to get the T junction in. decrease a length of pipe, say 12 inches and linked one end of the faucet. decrease yet another length of pipe say 18 inches and restoration the unit that is going on the tip of the spur. you ought to use plastic holders which you push the pipe into to maintain the pipe sturdy. turn the water back on and consider for leaks. All joints you employ must be compression joints so as which you do no longer ought to solder joints. the reason at the back of the faucet is by technique of the fact if something is going incorrect inclusive of your dishwasher you are able to turn the faucet off and which will merely impact the dishwasher and not the rest on your kitchen. pass to a sturdy plumber's retailers and that they'll nurse you thru it. This merely applies in case you reside interior the united kingdom. i don't be attentive to what you do interior the united states.

Stick to name brands, and avoid those you have never heard of since it's likely that repairmen will not be able to service them. I don't know your market, but here 500 pounds is about equivalent to about $1000, and this should be enough to buy a good new washer and dryer.
