My midwife gave me a recipe for a labor cocktail that had Castor oil in it. It did it for me twice. I went into labor about 6-8 hours after i drank it. But it will only work if you are very close or past your due date and your cervix is favorable. And you wont sit on the toilet all day long, it's more like getting an enema. You'll poop everything out and be done with it.

In the old days castor oil has been said to induce labor, But I really don't suggest it. Castor oil number one tastes foul , number two,flushes your whole digestive system. Basically it stimulates your system so much that it starts contractions. Its really not a good idea to use unless you plan on sitting on the toilet all day long and being in more pain then needed. I t will induce your bowels to spaz out and you will get the green apple quick step! As your colin reacts it can cause you to have contractions. Unfortunately few folks tell you that haveing a baby is like crapping a medium sized Halloween pumpking.
The urge to poop can get things going but I really do not advise it unless you want to have the dukes during labor. sorry to be so crass but I wish I got a more realistic skinny on the whole pregnancy situation.
I did not drink or anything during my pregnancy but at the end I was late and my dr told me to go home and get it on with the fellah so the semen would help me produce the hormones that help the cervics dialate
Yea ok about the drinking, It was suggested that I stop at the store on the way home and get a 4 pack of Gunniss....Me drink one, the dad drink the rest ,and then we could be ready to do the wheelbarrow. We were a bit stressed out becaouse I had been dialated for several weeks and they said if I did'nt get her out soon then they would have to get her.
Here's what I did. I drank 3 of the Guinesses , got it on with myself and the orgasm brought on some pretty profound contractions. (Call me crazy but it was mid August, I was late and I had gained about 60 pounds. Sex was the last thing on my mind.YUCK!!!)
So hey man, have a nice glass of red wine RELAX and take a warm bath. Get giggy with yourself if it comes to it , then hopefully the contractions will come and you will be ready to go. Trust me a glass of wine is going to be a more relaxing and pleasent to go into labor with than a horrid case of the shits. That no fun.

It gives you diarhea. And, yes, diarhea does induce labor. However, I wouldn't recommend it!! Labor is hard enough without having a bout of the runs.

My doctor says it will only work if you're within a few days of going into labor naturally. Otherwise it's just a laxative.

no one way of doing it is by a brest pump and us it the steamulation will give you the hormons you need to start labor good luck

I heard that before but I am not sure, it is definetely not something the doctors tell us about.
