My school got the Blue Ribbion award. This was not only for our academic achievemants but we have an Agriculture Science program no one else in the county has, also our music and art departments are amazing. But now they are making the students next year choose between music, art, or agriculture. They may only take one along with P.E. and heatlh. This is not fair at all. This shouldnt be done! The younger kids should have the same oppertunities i had! Shouldn't we be saving the music and art? I have a pretty solid case against them (the school board) and plenty of reasons and people on my side. Would you stand up for this?

I went to a blue ribbon school too and fought the school board. Boards are usually filled with politics and ego freaks. The best way to win is to show them the benefits of music and art. Apply the music and art to the community and higher education. Give them a list of colleges that emphasis the arts. Show them pictures of your fellow students smiling in art classes. Get a petition going. You may even call your local small newspaper and put a picture in there. Guilt trip them into wanting art classes because they make students happy. The more student, parent and community support you have the better.

Do it!
Who else is going to care more than the parent?
Not every kid is alike and by imparting such rules, they are saying a child is only able to focus on one of those at a time when there may be children that might flourish on multi-arts and perhaps a child in agriculture needs a music outlet. I have two very artistic children. One is very much an artist in her drawing skills and photographer skills. The other is a creative artist in her building of statues and moldings - but is actually fantastic in drama. She received an Arts scholarship, Theater scholarship and a psychology scholarship. These have paid for her first year and will continue to pay for the next two more years of college. How unfair is it not to offer these opportunities to all. If it were not for the scholarships, she would not be able to attend college.

Fight for these - you WILL give children the opportunity by doing so.

downsizing their curriculum is not a good idea, is it because they lack the resources to offer all these subjects to every student? i would draft a letter outlining your concerns and perhaps start a petition to save the diversity of subjects offered , go to a parents and citizens meeting and see if you can gain support from them as well, good luck

If you don't who will? If you don't then you have no reason to complain when it goes into affect. If you really believe that it is an important issue then be heard.
