I have a 76 Corvette, and on the body there is a key hole where the stingray emblem is, which is right above the driver side front tire. I noticed it and wondered what it was for. Design or something else. Any crazy help would be cool.

It was probably for an alarm.

Before transmitters, car alarms were disabled by requiring an additional key. The lock was usually placed in the fender, but it required drilling a hole.

Placing it under the emblem is actually quite clever.

That was from an old alarm system. They used to be manually activated way back then.
