I think shaving may be a little extreme. But there are several things that you can try.
Summer's Eve makes alot of very good products used for feminine hygiene. They have a liquid soap that you can you can use in the shower everyday which is very nice. Vagisil cream is also another product that you can use for external itching. Also, you could try douching after every period. This will help to clean out any bacteria that may be left in the vagina after your period. Other than that........well just good hygiene. Shower Shower Shower wash wash wash. :) :)

There is a product called "Boudreaux Butt Paste" that's the real name. I use it faithfully on my 4 year old daughter since she was born. Its good for rashes and irritations. I have never found a diaper rash ointment better than that yet. The itching and redness goes away in a few hours. Check around and see if you can find some in your area. The paste was invented by a pharmacist in Louisiana where I am from so there is plenty here. Maybe you can do a search to locate some...
Good luck and I hope it helps

I know how you feel! I put it down mostly to the moist and warm atmosphere 'down there' when you have a period. Also, no 'fresh air' can get to it due to wearing underwear all the time - even at night.
It could be thrush, in which case you need to be see by the GP and get some treatment - Canesten is a good one.
IN the mean time, wahs regularly, avoid fragrances down there and keep yourself dry as much as poss.
Dont be embarressed tho! MOst women would admit to this if they were honest!
Take care

Sounds like a yeast infection i.e. thrush which you can get rid of with canisten cream again not sure of the spelling. Also if its just irritated skin have you changed your washing powder, i know it sounds daft but some people can have reactions to certain powders and that area pretty exposed. For irritated skin Hydrocortisone cream can be good but you must be careful in that area.

Is it worth trying thrush cream to try and relieve the itching? Try not to use perfumed soaps down there. If you use pads, is it possible you may have an allergy to them? Also, you could try taking a warm bath of just water and salt - it may help cleanse the area. I hope I've helped.

You can get some over the counter meds to help that. Vagasil is one. If this keeps reocurring though, you should probably go to the doc. Could be something else going on and may require a prescription.

mite sound a little weird but i use yougart, just ordinary though lol, this cools it down and stops the itching, more you itch the more itchy it becomes and this could be painful, plus yougart is a lot cheaper then all ov that stuff you getat chemists which by the way never work. good luck

That sounds like it could be a yeast infection.
Check out a drug store and see what they have for helping that.
Also, during your period, do you use tampons or pads? Pads can aid infections more readily then tampons, so if this is a reoccurring problem you should try switching if you're not already using tampons.

You may have some kind of skin infection or vaginal thrush....You can get an ointment from a drugstore for it. Also use Canestan in your washing machine when you wash your socks and underwears cos it kills germ that cause these types of infections.

I'd recomend caneston cream, which is meant for vaginal thrush. You can also use steroid cream, but that has to be prescribed by a doctor and you can only use it for a very short period. It helps fast though.
