Speaking as half of a couple that enjoys nude recreation and social nudity, the answer to your question is: body acceptance.
That means that we accept our bodies as they are and don't feel self-conscious because we don't resemble male or female models.
Many people falsely think that they will instantly begin to love their bodies once they lose the weight they feel they need to lose. That's simply not true. Some of the most tortured people are also been some of the thinnest. Ask just about any person from a size 6 to a size 26 about their weight-loss needs, and most will tell you that they really need to lose a few pounds.
The other thing that contributes to shame about nudity is that some people only get nude for two reasons - to shower/bathe or have sex, so they simply cannot conceive of any other reason to be nude, as if one had to "justify" being nude.
These people automatically equate nudity with eroticism (sex), and any mature nudist will tell you that this is a logical fallacy. Thinking about sex takes a conscious effort; it doesn't just "happen" when you see someone nude. Obviously, people think about sex when they're clothed, so nudity is not a "requirement" for being aroused.
If we date the "age" of America to roughly 1600, then this country is only 400 years old. The first nudist colonies were opened in Germany around 1903, and grew into popularity during the 1920’s.
The first official nudist club in America opened in June 1930, near Spring Valley in Rockland County, New York.
National opinion polls in 1983 and 1990 revealed that 72% of Americans approve of designated clothing optional beaches. To date, over 30 million Americans have experienced mixed social nudity.
Nudist resorts and communities in the U.S., reported a 300% increase in the whopping $400 million nude vacationing industry over the past 14 years.
The American Association for Nude Recreation includes nearly 50,000 members and 267 affiliated clubs, RV campgrounds, bed & breakfasts and resorts in the U.S., Canada and Jamaica.

Well if you follow the bible it is bec of Eve. Well the Devil but still she told Adam to wear the leaf and God wasn't happy about that. lol. I dont think it is everyone. I have never seen a beautiful woman who has a fantastic body ashamed to show it off. Then again there are women who are like 500 lbs who aren't embarrassed to show anything either. I dont know if there really is an answer to this one?!

Many of us aren't ashamed or embarassed to be naked in even the most public of situations, as long as the nudity is appropriate, such as at a nude beach, pool etc.
Once you get past the false idea that nudity is always linked to sexuality, being naked is no big deal and, in most cases, lots of fun.

I don't think clothing originated bc of shame, I think it was developed as a protective device against harsh climate conditions, stony ground etc. I am sure that Eskimos got into clothing a lot quicker on the timeline than islander nations, right?
Isn't it also a hygiene and safety issue? I don't think getting sticks and dirt up my ***** would be much fun at all...
