it sounds like the bearings have failed....

there are online helps to repairing washers...do a websearch for "large appliance repair" and follow the appropriate links for the make and model of your washer

Sounds like the transmission has gone out. Look under the washer and see if there is any grease of oil on the floor. If you see any deposits of oil or grease then that is the problem and you should consider getting a new washer.

either your tub inside is off balance or you need a new buring that is under the wash tub where the belt hook too to spin the tub but it sounds like the tub is off balance the top of your washer comes off check and see if the tub is scrapping

mine did that and it was the belt rubbing through the drum, luckily it was under guarantee
