It seems, when a questioner adds details, some people just ignore them. Why?

Some people just want the points that go along with answering questions.

Other people just have no lives....

I believe many are reacting with a visceral reaction rather than a rational one. They see the question, many times get offended by it, then start typing away. I always read the details if I am going to answer the question because many times the details change the overall meaning in general. I think many do the same with the answers. They read the first few lines decide they know exactly what is being said and then give thumbs down, or attack it with additional details of their own. Let's face it, we are a convenience based society filled with visual media and 30 second sound bytes, anything of real substance just bores people, or intrudes on their own self conceived precious time. Then of course there are those who just want the points and don't really care what anyone else thinks anyway.

With the huge volume of questions posted, most people answering them do not return to check the results. Therefore they probably don't see the additional notes. Besides, Yahoo Answers isn't really designed like a blog for back and forth dialogue.

Sometimes they add the details after we answer. Happened to me yesterday, and cost me a beautiful 10 points!

Because most people answer, then don't return to see what happens afterward. I'd guess that 50% or more of the answers are one-liners that don't really help much. They just wanna add their 2 cents (read: get their 2 points) and move on.

Actually, I sometimes wonder if the whole damned world has ADHD, since nobody has the patience and/or ability to pay attention to the details. By the way, I've actually been diagnosed with ADHD, so that wasn't a criticism of people with the disorder.

Sherilynn: Sorry dear. It was Manfred Mann--not Bruce---originally!

Some people don't go back and recheck questions they answered.

You have to give all of the info at the beginning or not at all----That I have learned!

Sherilynn: I am going to take this opportunity to apologize publicly instead of sending you a private e-mail--you deserve to be apologized publicly since I impuned you publicly!
I assumed copyrighted meant original when it actually means that the version of the song in question is copyrighted!
Again I WAS WRONG!

And ---Ja Mein Shatzi --means---Yes my dear!

My uncle is married to a German-American and he says this to her all of the time!!!

Maybe the details are not missed...just..missread !!....It has to do with the context in which the questioner asked the question.....Only that person knows in which context, so asking for answers from a very broad spectrum will give you very different perspectives on your answers...
