No sweety it really is not hard.I have travelled a lot for as many hours with all my children as babies.Just make sure you have plenty of diapers, some finger foods, baby food if your child eats that.Clean bottles for formula/water /juice.And some toys to help occupy him.Good luck ,you will be fine. And you will find people on the plane who will wanna help you if you need it....happy traveling

I travelled (by myself) with my 4 month old baby to the States and back (from the UK) with 2 stopovers over 2 days ...... it was hard. I found that the airport staff are not particularly helpful. I had to ask other passengers to help me when I got the plane gate, when I had to give up the buggy, one of the passengers held the baby whilst I colapsed the buggy and bagged it. No sign of cabin crew to help. I'd advise that you make yourself know to the cabin crew BEFORE BOARDING and say that you'll need extra help as you're travelling alone.

ONLY TAKE ONE SUITCASE!!!!! I thought it would be good idea to get a little case to fit in all the baby essentials (we were going for a month) and thought I could somehow strap the suitcases and buggy together. It was a BIG mistake. I have never worked so physically hard in my life (except for the birth!). However much you are tempted, steer clear of more luggage than you need. One suitcase, one travel bag (changing bag) and your handbag.

I know this sounds all negative, but I don't want to struggle like I did when there's no need. Ask for help everywhere, there should be staff available with the airline/travel operator you are using.

Above all, don't let the travelling part ruin the fact that your baby is experiencing new things, he will be fascinated with all of it - he won't need too much entertaining! Just be prepared that if you are on a night flight you might not get much sleep .........

Best of luck ............

OMG! You must have the patience of a Saint! There is no way I could do that but here's what I suggest...if you don't have a portable DVD player-it would be a good time to invest in one(I think by 24 hrs, it would have paid for itself!). And get some Baby Einstein videos in addition to his books, toys etc. Buy a few new toys/books that he's never seen....that should keep his attention for a while. Also, if Benadryl makes your child sleepy....I'd actually give him some when it's his normal night time(sounds terrible, but he's going to be jet lagged and overly tired from traveling). You could also ask your doctor for some type of medicine that will make him drowsy. Good luck!

Surely a ten month old is easier than a toddler though?! Find out from the airline what help you can get and what will be available to you - don't forget to book your child's meals (funny as it sounds I've been on a 12 hour flight were the parents didn't book their child any food...!!!). Make sure you know what you can take on the plane and take everything you think you'll need. Stuff to amuse and keep the baby busy. Good luck!

Make sure you have enough nappies & wipes. If he's on formula have pre measured formula in pots that you can just tip into the bottle - the cabin crew will give you warm/hot water.
Good toys are things like stacking cups. They don't take much space & can entertain for a while. Take finger foods like raisins or cheerios that will occupy him for a while when he eats - it takes them ages to pick them up one at a time.
Be prepared to do laps of the plane - lots and lots of laps (you will get to know the other passengers quite well!)
For the stop overs - try and make sure you can have your stroller. If you have an umbrella type they should let it go in the cabin with you.
The moment he goes to sleep, you try to sleep as well.
Good luck.

Be sure to bring things to keep him entertained, likes books and a few toys he likes. Also bring some snacks like cheerios that he likes.
